Description :

----------------

This AddOn allows you to create/schedule/manage future raid instance directly in-game. Players can register (join) and reserve a room for your instance, or cancel subscription.

You can setup a maximum players for your event, as well as the min/max per class or role.

When a player wants to join and there is no room left for his class, he is put in a *substitute* queue, waiting for someone to cancel his subscription.

The leader of an event does not have to be logged in for a player to subscribe.

This addon has been designed to help guilds to schedule events, and its member to say *I'll be there*, and count the number of players that are ok for an instance.

It does work for multiple guilds (kind of Alliance of guilds), if you want, or even with your friend list.

All dates are stored in universal time, and displayed in local time, so if someone creates an event in a different timezone than yours, you will see the correct time on your side.

    Hi JMHammer,

just to optimize things, what is your issue with the official site ?

  • Aug. 25, 2008, 09:18AM (3 days, 15 hours ago)

    Hi JMHammer,

(please post on my own forum, it's easier to track down messages. I understand you don't like the GEM3 specific one ^^).

The "issue" with custom channels, is that I sometimes (during my tests) had incoming malformed message (which should never happen, since all messages are "compressed" using libSerializer, and some sort of data checking is done by the addon). This is due to blizz custom channel issues that alter messages and is not reliable. GEM3 ignore messages if serializer fails to uncompress them, but it looks like it sometimes fail, and causes GEM to be fooled by some of them (I shouldn't have to add a lot of message format checks...).
Anyway, password should be working well, it's just that the UI does not activate them.
As for the slash/alias... well it's not coded at all, I haven't found the time to do it.

As for the versionning, we prefered to release a stable version (without custom channels), so that the whole bunch of players that only use Guild channel can fully benefit of the new GEM3 features (and move from GEM2/Calendar to GEM3), and then, in a next "stable" release, add custom channels.

I'll try to add support for alias/slash soon (so that you may test stability).

Kiki and Movix- I think you're doing a great job with the new GEM v3. I'm looking forward to introducing GEM v3 to our guild alliance, but until some issues are addressed, it will not be possible to do so. For example...

1- Without the ability to set a password on a player-created channel to keep out undesireables, and
2- Without the ability to set "alias" and "slash" so that the channel will support item links,

...I'm afraid that it's completely unusable. Our guild alliance does not currently set a password on our channel, but I can see us doing so in the future. Without the ability to link items in the channel, a great deal of the social activity in our channel would dry up, as it would not be possible for people to use the channel to link items or enchants or other things.

There are also a great deal of distractingly bad (English) typos. I'll take a look through the code and send you a file with corrections. However, the new forums at wowgem.fr are terrible - so I'll either post it here, or back on the forums at the http://christophe.calmejane.free.fr/wow/gem/ address.

    Hi JMHammer,

As for the previous beta releases the custom channels are still experimental.
The more peaple can make use of them, the faster we get informations about it's reliability. Since the tests we made by ourself, no issues were found.

  • Aug. 18, 2008, 02:50AM (1 week, 3 days ago)

I asked if there was full support for custom channels. There is not - passwords can't be set, there is no ability to define "slash" and "alias" and therefore no ability to link within a custom channel. This isn't "experimental" - this is "nonfunctional" and until passwords at least can be set for player-created channels, they shouldn't be enabled at all.

GEM 3.10 is missing too many features, is therefore still a beta, and should be labeled as such.

    Kiki-

We use GEM to coordinate events among many different guilds.

Does the 3.10 release have full support for custom channels, or are player-created channels not reliable?

  • Aug. 4, 2008, 09:36AM (3 weeks, 3 days ago)

    Hi,

this is a know issue due to custom channels usage (remember custom channels are experimental in this version). If you want to (tempo) avoid this message, add the Guild channel to your config (GEM options, channels, click the "Add Guild" button).

This issue has been fixed for next version, thanks

I get the following error every minute

GuildEventManager WARNING (please inform Kiki): GEM3_CHAN_FoundGuildChannelLeader: Not in GUILD channel!!

    Any idea why?

  • July 15, 2008, 09:02AM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)

@Movix: well in fact it's possible to have an offset of -17 hours... in his case :)
Since time are stored using UTC, someone can live in UTC+12, and a server can be located at UTC-12, which will have a relative offset of -24 hours.

@targanon: you need to set -17 (which is not possible currently because of a minor bug in the UI not allowing that).
The time offset to be set is the relative time between your home's timezone, and your wow server's time zone (here: UTC+10 - UTC-7 = 17).
Be careful not to change your computer's timezone, it must correctly be set to UTC+10 :)

Using this option, GEM will simply shift all displayed times (event's date, event's creation) by this offset, thus showing you the time for the wow server (easier for you if you play on a guild where 99% of the players are in the USA)

  • July 14, 2008, 11:37PM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)

as far as i know, timezone offset goes from -12 to +12, so -17 is not possible.

for my unterstanding you are 7 hours in front of your server, so you need to configure that value as offset.

by the way, in fact the field is limited to 2 digits and so it is not possible to have -12 as server offset. we will fix this in the next release, thx for the hint.

  • July 11, 2008, 10:21AM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)

Movix ty for your reply Mate..

But I"m still confused as to the actual offset I should use for my time zone..
Like I was saying before I"m 17 hours infront of the Server..
So I"m thinking I need to make the Offset -17 hours....
SO now I see you use UTC that means I"m 10 hours in front of UTC...
SO -10 is what I"m thinking I neeed to add to the offset..??
But I can't put -10 as it only let for 2 digits..

I have FuBar clockFu and when I look at it it shows Right now!

    Local time (+10:00) 8:18pm
    server Time(-07:00) 3:18am
    UTC 10:19pm

So can you tell me what should I enter into the offset to make it display in my local time but the correct server time... remember you have only 2 digital space in your field.

  • July 11, 2008, 09:28AM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)

@targanon: yes there is, in the config tab, go to the date & time settings, there you will find the server time offset option. set there the offset to the server in hours.
All events on the channel as well as those you create, uses your local time for displaying while the server time is stored in the database.

  • July 11, 2008, 09:00AM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)

@Jonessee22: Thanks for the report, I wasn't sure of the name for ZG in the tags list.
If you want the message to disapear, open the file <wow>/Interface/AddOns/GEM3_Core/loc/critical_localization.lua, and remove the two '-' characters before the "Zul'Gurub" line

@targanon: All times are displayed for your current timezone, not the wow server timezone. If you see an event at 12am, then it is at 12am for you not the people living in the states.
BUT, there is an option in GEM3 (the same that was in GEM2) that display times depending on the wow server's timezone. I'm not sure if you can set this option in the current GEM3UI build (I'll let movix answer this question).

  • July 11, 2008, 07:00AM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)

I live in Australia and use a US based server. So 12am (mid night) Fri Server time is in fact 5pm Sat local time, so I need to offset by 17 hours>>>> or do I?
So how do I set the offset to make it show correctly.. ??

  • July 9, 2008, 07:57PM (1 month, 2 weeks ago)

I got this while in Zul'Gurub and it says it every time I log on now.

GuildEventManager: Instance name 'Zul'Gurub' (locale:enUS) not found in GEM instances list.

I can't subscribe to events or look at members off line everything has a gray like covering wont allow me to do things, sorry for short explanations short on time..

  • July 3, 2008, 10:23PM (1 month, 3 weeks ago)

Thanks for reporting this error, it's a bug when editing an event that causes this error.
This has been fixed; the next release will be done soon.
Try to /gem reset and reset the database, this can resolve your problem while waiting for the beta3 release

GuildEventManager v3 has been released for BETA testing.
Support for GEM v2 will soon be stopped, as version 3 is far much better, reliable, ...

Please try out v3, and help us release a stable version, we need translators.
