Bug Reporting

Use a good error catcher (like BugSack from files.wowace.com) and provide the full error text, and give as much information as possible to recreate the problem. Don't assume I know what you're talking about with some three word report.

Either post a message on this page, or use the Curse Ticketing System (linked just above).

Introduction

Perl, with Extra stuff. Much enchanced from Nymbia's Perl UnitFrames, and a complete replacement for Blizzard's default unit frames, including raid frames and raid tools, with little remaining of the original Nymbia code.

Range Finder (combined with optional health check and/or debuff check) for all frames based on spell or item range test.

HoT Monitor will highlight units clearly that have your own active Heal over Time spells. Regardless of how many other heal over time buffs are on the raid members, you can keep track of your own ones and when they expire.

Debuff Highlighting in standard debuff colours on all friendly frames. Priority given to show debuffs that you can cure first.

Raid Frames, buff icons, MT list units and some other portions or X-Perl are Created on demand. Saving a lot of time and memory at system startup. Defering the creation of many parts of X-Perl to when they are actually required. And of course, most often outside of raids they are never required and are never created.

Raid Target icon support for Target, Target's Target, MT Targets.

Raid Tooltip will show combat rezzers available (druids with Rebirth ready (or very soon available) and any normal rezzers out of combat) if you bring up tooltip of a dead person.

In-combat indicators for all units.

3D Portraits for player, pet, target, focus, party. Optional. Of course this may degrade your framerate somewhat because you are displaying more 3D character models that without this option. But some like it pretty, and it does look cool.

Red and Green combat flashes for frames when player, pet, target, party, partypets, raid take damage/heals. Useful indication of things happening.

Added time left on party member/target buffs/debuffs when in a raid, these depend somewhat on CTRA/oRA/oRA2 sending appropriate information over the addon channel, although some of it can be determined at run time by X-Perl, when a player gets a buff for example, we know how long it should last, and therefor when it should expire.

Totally new options window including all X-Perl options and access via minimap icon.

Configurable colours for borders and backgrounds. Including class coloured names, and configurable reaction colours.

Much care has been taken with code size, memory load, memory usage per cycle and so on. LuaProfiler/OnEvent mods used extensively and regularly to ensure that X-Perl does not do more work than is absolutely necessary.

Assists View

Will show anyone from raid assising you with your target, and can also show healers or all plus known enemies targetting you.

Tooltips for the same also available (on player and target frames) if you prefer to not use the main window.

MT Targets

Replaces CTRA/oRA2 MT Targets window, and doubles as a replacement for the Perl RaidFrames warrior targets.

Indicator shows which target you are on.

Frames will be coloured to show if tanks have duplicate targets.

Casting Monitor

(WORK IN PROGRESS)

Shows selected classes (defaults to healer classes) in a list (much like the MT List), but with some differences.

Shows mana bars and cast bars on left. Their targets on right. Health bar as normal, but a secondary small red bar on targets which shows the maximum single hit this unit has received since entering combat. The secondary bar will extend downwards from their current HP level down to as far as zero.

A green name on the targets indicates this is the same target that you have. You can click on casters or their targets as expected.

For druids, right clicking on a caster will cast Innervate on them.

For shamans, right clicking on a caster will cast Mana Tide Totem. Check the * indicator to see if they're in your group.

All bars can be re-sized in X-Perl main options (Monitor section).

Totals can be toggled (from the 'T' minibutton at top of frame) which gives overview of raid mana status.

Raid Admin

(WORK IN PROGRESS)

Save/Load raid roster setups Only does direct save and load for the moment, but more to come (templates and such).

Item Check

Replacement for /raitem /radur /raresist /rareg. Use the old commands before, or drop items in the left item list.

Query button will perform /raitem on all ticked items (query always includes dur and resists) and you can then view and review all the results whenever, without having to re-query each item.

Includes everyone in raid, so you don't have to work out who doesn't have items, it'll list them with 0 instead of no entry.

Active Scanner to check raid member's equipment for the item selected. So you can be sure that people actually have the item worn (Onyxia Cloak for example), without having to go round single target inspecting everyone who 'forgot' to install CTRA for the 50th raid in a row.

Grim Reaper

The Grim Reaper remembers the most recent combat events for each unit in the party or raid, so that you may mouse over someone and immediately see the kind of damage/healing they took prior to death.

/grim for options

Right click Reaper for menu (when un-docked)
Alt-Mousewheel to scale the reaper window (when un-docked)

Zeksie, any plans to update ZOMGBuffs? There are lots of unanswered posts in the WowAce forum thread.

Would it be possible for you to fix the rare dragon image on the target frame?

At the moment Xperl doesn't distinguish betwee a rare mob and a rare elite mob. Both are silver but a rare elite dragon has a wing where the normal rare doesn't.

    Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem as eaglephil999:

"little bug : for hunter pet's happy face doesnt appear with any version."

I really don't know where the crux of the matter is! I definitely checked the options (and I will do it again and again :D) much more than only once.

Maybe... I have to delete the wtf-folder and install the addons one after another to check which one of the other addons is affecting xperl. :[

Hi, I love this addon but I would like to make two requests. Would it be possible that you add a VisualHeal in xperl?
And another thing is that, as a healer, I would be more than happy if you could add a better range finder to raid and party frames. The hand on top on the selected unit is kind of hard to look after when heals need to be done quickly. ( a kind of fade framing for out of range people or something as obvious would be really great. If there is anything like that in this addon already can anyone tell me how to do it?)
Anyway thanks for bringing a great addon, it has been the best so far with cool design, a lot of nice options, and a low memory usage.

The range finder is already integrated into Xperl. Look at the bottom of the global tab.

Anyone know how to set the party frames horizontal instead of Vertical?

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 11:17PM (1 week ago)

Would it be possible to have another range adjustment for the healer range finder? On my druid, the range for healing spells is at 40 yards and when im trying to heal instead of being at max range I have to be in at 30 yards to get the names to come up. Now this is normally not a problem as during raids the players are very easy to heal but in AV I find it very hard to see who is in range for my heals when I have to be so close. BTW, I love these unit frames and have used them for about a year now so keep up the good work.

  • Aug. 23, 2008, 06:55PM (5 days, 5 hours ago)

You've always been able to have 3 seperate range finders enabled. Select the whole/name/stats frame radio button to access the options for each one seperately.

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 07:18PM (1 week ago)

The buffs overlap the pet bar, making it difficult to see. I can move the pet bar, or tweaking with settings, but I shouldn't have to for a feature (pet bar) that is so prevalent in the game.

Also, I'm having difficulty fully restoring defaults. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, including different versions. I've deleted all saved variables I can see in the WTF folder. Is there one I'm missing?

Don't let these quips get you though, great add on! Keep it up!

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 06:04PM (1 week ago)

I really love this add-on, but it was a love that was hard-earned. It's taken a few uninstall/re-installs, and lots of monkeying around with it. One thing that solved quite a few problems (and was found quite by accident) is that you can drag the windows around, as long as you have the configuration window open. The only other advice I can give is to play around with the configuration settings. Lots and lots of options! Thank you for a great add-on!

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 05:46AM (1 week ago)

I'm having a problem with the party frame. When I have it saved one way on one profile and then I load a different profile the party frame doesn't change. All the other frames work fine and change when I load different profiles but the party one does not change at all.

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 03:53AM (1 week ago)

    Where is Grim Reaper?
    Im not see that!

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 10:36PM (1 week ago)

GrimReaper is now a seperate addon .. you should be able to find on wowace.com site if its not updated here as well

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 02:56AM (1 week ago)

Xperl is really pissing me off! Its a wonderful addon dont get me wrong, but theres always something wrong with it. (Well for me that is) First, I couldnt see the cast bar in my targets frame nor could I see it in mine. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it now it wont let me see peoples buffs! Wether there in my party or not, cant see any buffs, please help!

  • Aug. 21, 2008, 12:00AM (1 week, 1 day ago)

Is it possible to hide party interface while in a raid just like with the Blizzard interface? I've checked throughout the addon and I cannot find it.

  • Aug. 20, 2008, 02:53PM (1 week, 1 day ago)

Excellent Addon my friend. thank you.
